First of all, can you introduce yourself?

Hello, I am Mustafa Batın. I completed my education in computer science and engineering with a minor in business analytics. During my education, I attached importance to gaining international experience as well as developing myself academically. In this context, I studied at the Management Center Innsbruck in Austria and Hong Kong Baptist University. These experiences expanded my perspective in cultural terms. Traveling in my spare time, getting to know different cultures, and spending time with my dog are some of my most enjoyable activities. I think my years at Sabancı University made many contributions to me. After graduation, I feel ready to implement what I have learned in the projects in the sector.

Which company did you work with? Could you tell us about the details of your project?

We worked on the Driver Monitoring System project for Togg in collaboration with Vestel. The main purpose of this project was to develop an artificial intelligence-backed driver tracking system to increase drivers’ security. We designed a system that analyzes the situation of the driver based on camera data.

Could you tell us about your work team and your way of working?

I developed the project under the supervision of Özcan Hoca from Sabancı University. I was responsible for the whole process. I conducted steps such as requirement analysis, algorithm development, system design, testing, and reporting. I regularly received technical and academic counseling from Özcan Hoca and built a strong basis for the project both scientifically and application-wise. At the same time, I proceeded with meetings with Vestel engineers in accordance with the expectations of the industrial side. This process significantly improved my research and problem-solving competence.

How did you benefit from participating in and experiencing the Industry-Focused Projects Graduation Program?

This program was very valuable in terms of providing the theoretical opportunity to practice what I learned. Working with a real company has contributed a lot to me in project management, coordination, time planning, and professional communication. In addition, I learned how important it is to work compatibly with optimization and hardware constraints.

Is there anything else you want to add?

This process was very useful for me to apply my engineering skills and to make a strong start to my career. I would like to thank Sabancı University for supporting our project and offering this opportunity.
